Ten years ago, Rieko Nishina lost her husband in a traffic accident and raised Kohta on her own. She somehow managed to send him to university, saw him become an adult, and finally reached a point where child-rearing was no longer her primary concern. One day, the topic of remarriage came up for Rieko. She was drawn to Ohkawa, who seemed honest and kind. Considering remarriage with Ohkawa, Rieko invited Kohta on a hot spring trip to Fukushima.
